Jacir Eid al-Hwietat was the breakout star of Theeb, a coming-of-age Bedouin film. Theeb received two nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, for best foreign language film and for outstanding directorial debut for Abu Nowar, the writer and director of the film. But alas, no Oscar nominations.
