WNBA player Elena Delle Donne married Amanda Clifton in a breathtakingly beautiful ceremony last weekend, sponsored by The Knot's Dream Wedding.
Delle Donne and Clifton were selected by The Knot, a popular wedding magazine, as the website's dream couple and were married in Long Island.
"Still feel like last night was a dream," Donne wrote on Instagram. "Marrying the love of my life and having all of our friends and family in one place was amazing!"
According to USA Today, Delle Donne's wedding also benefited charity. The floral arrangements were sent to nearby senior centers and women's shelters, and the wedding registry benefited the Delle Donne's foundation, which supports the Special Olympics and people with Lyme disease.
"The wedding isn't just about us and our day. It can also impact others and make them happy."
The couple hopes that same-sex marriages become more commonplace, and were excited to work with The Knot, who usually features heterosexual couples.
"That is the reason why I'm doing The Knot," said Delle Donne. "I don't want people to have to have these huge coming outs anymore. It should just be the norm. I love a woman. Or a man and a woman love each other. It should just be no big deal. ... I hope in people's minds they just see it as two beautiful brides and move on. You don't see enough of two brides or two grooms."
Congratulations Elena and Amanda!
