14 Queer Females We Hope Lena Dunham Includes in Her Feminist Newsletter
If you haven’t already heard and signed up yet, Lena Dunham has created a feminist newsletter (yes, an email newsletter) called Lenny, and it's something you're going to want to subscribe to. She’s creating it with her friend, Jenni Konner, to curate really amazing content for the informed, stylish, humorous humans, us millennials are.
1. Ellen Page
There are so many Ellen things Lena could cover in Lenny: Film roles, burgeoning style, social justice.
2. Leisha Hailey
We’re guessing Lena has seen The L Word, and probably loved Alice, so this seems like an obvious connection. Maybe they’ll connect over music? Leisha’s band is pretty cool.
3. Evan Rachel Wood
Proudly coming up as a bi-woman and discussing the struggles she and the rest of the bi community face (while also living a life that is a silent eff-you to all the bigots) seems like something Lena would be into.
4. Tig Notaro
A no-nonsense comedian who loves women and also brought awareness to breast cancer in an incredibly brave way? Ya, Tig is Lenny newsletter material.
5. Ellen Degeneres
As a television extraordinaire, it would seem remiss for Lena not to take an opportunity to give Ellen the nod she deserves.
6. Her sister, Grace Dunham
She wrote a book, has hella dope outfits, and she starred in Lena’s first indie, Tiny Furniture.
7. Kristen Stewart
Stewart recently showed how fucking graceful of a feminist she is by completely quashing all the questions about her sexuality. A discussion about sexual identity and the identifiers that come with it would be something we’d all love to read on Lenny.
8. Megan Rapinoe
Lena might not be a huge women’s soccer fan, but we do peg her as someone who likes to push boundaries, and Megan has definitely done that recently.
9. Sara Gilbert
She’s on The Talk, and daytime TV talk shows have so much meat to them, that millennial women would love to have someone else dissect. Plus, she was Darlene on Roseanne. She’s an icon.
10. St. Vincent
Nobody would argue that Annie Clark is killing the music scene, and lesbian hearts with her #relaitonshipgoals with Cara Delevingne. Plus she has wicked style, which is prime Lena content.
11. Linda Perry
Not only could they simply bond about accessorizing, something they’re both very into, but we imagine that they’d click about more things than necklaces and hats.
12. Ruby Rose
Why would she not put Ruby Rose in her newsletter?! No explanation necessary.
13. Raven Simone
Raven has been very vocal in a way that has really pissed off a lot of the LGBT community, so even though The Lenny letter coverage may not be the most positive, it’s likely to start important conversations.
14. Samira Wiley
Lena is a huge fan of OITNB, and since Samira is a lesbian favorite, it wouldn’t be surprising if she was Lena’s favorite too.
Seriously, go sign up. We all did.
