I’ve been a self-proclaimed sci-fi and fantasy nerd my entire life, so I am obviously biased and want you to take an interest in us sci-fi/fantasy nerds.
There are so many reasons why you should date a person who is or formerly was obsessed with things like Harry Potter, Star Wars and X-Men, but the main one is because they’re the fucking best people ever. And also the following talking points.
1. They are cool.
No matter how they come off, the more you get to know a sci-fi nerd, the cooler you learn that they are.
2. They like to read.
Every good sci-fi/fantasy movie was based on a book. DUH.
3. And readers are smart.
It’s a known fact that readers have better vocabulary and spelling than non-readers. Look it up.
4. They can and will sit through super long movies.
So you can push other long movies at them and they can/will watch it and keep up. They’ll just be more content if it has to do with space travel.
5. They understand complicated concepts.
You can’t really watch Interstellar without understanding the time/space theories out there, which isn’t an easy chunk of information to get through. But watch it with a sci-fi nerd, and you have someone there to explain it to you in layman’s terms.
6. They aren’t afraid to be themselves.
They're not afraid to get nerdy, read all the time or get as excited as a 5-year old in a candy store to dress up at midnight movies as their fave characters for any costume outing (even if it’s not sexy/cute AT ALL).
7. They are passionate about things that don’t necessarily make them any cooler/popular.
Although in some circles (probably their circles), it is cool to be completely versed in the history of Dr.Who, but that’s not the case for sci-fi nerds when compared to the rest of the world. They aren’t concerned with their passions pleasing anyone but themselves.
8. Which means that following the trend isn’t something they fuck with.
Remember when your mom told you not to be a follower? They really received that message.
9. They have their own minds, and they listen to it.
Which is probably the most attractive quality any person can have. Just know we all have that trait within us.
