Kesha makes no apologies in the lead radio-friendly single 'This Is Me' from movie musical The Greatest Showman, based on the true story of circus leader PT Barnum.
No stranger to the dark, the track is remarkably on brand for the 'Praying' singer. The freak anthem showcases Kesha's vulnerability, raw power, and some goosebump-worthy high notes, bringing the song to new heights. "When the sharpest words wanna cut me down/I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out," the singer belts. "This is brave, this is bruised/This is who I'm meant to be/This is me."
The song feels especially poignant for Kesha. After years of legal battles with her ex-producer, the pop star triumphantly rose like a phoenix from the ashes earlier this year with her comeback album Rainbow, which Rolling Stone named the fourth-best record of the year.
Keala Settle performs the original version of 'This Is Me' in the film, in which she plays the bearded lady in Barnum's circus. Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya also star.
