Who doesn't love a Southern gentleman?
Ryan Albert is the latest bombshell to join the hit Bravo reality show Southern Charm. As a longtime friend to some of the OG cast members, this hunk is ready for LGBTQ+ fans to resonate with his story.
"I really feel like this was an opportunity for viewers to see an inside look at a gay marriage in the South. Even my parents will be watching us for the first time. They have chosen not to welcome us into their lives as a married couple, so it was really important for me to have that opportunity," Albert tells PRIDE.
Albert's spot on the upcoming season is crucial during these divisive times. Although he's still navigating his relationship with his parents, the star knows his role on the show can help many fans watching from home.
"Growing up in a small town, I didn't get a lot of expose to the queer community. The only place I saw these things happened to be on television. I hope to give some hope to some of the people watching and to let them know it gets better, because it does."
Since he had a bit of a tough time coming out to his family, Albert was geared up for all of the drama heading his way on the new season of Southern Charm.
"There's nothing that really scares me anymore. Listen, I love some good Southern sweet tea! This was nothing for me. I am a little bit of a pot-stirrer. There is plenty of gossip going around, even after the season."
Albert joins Rodrigo Reyes as the second gay man on the show, but sadly, these two get off on the wrong foot.
"Just because we're both a part of this community does not mean we have to be best friends. That's what makes Southern Charm a great show. These friendships are constantly moving and evolving."
