One thing is certain... Pat and Neil are invincible!

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo have created iconic careers in the music industry, going all the way back to their debut in 1979.

With decades of hits released, awards collected, and records smashed, could a potential biopic similar to Freddie Mercury and Whitney Houston be in the works?

"We've been talking about it. We have somebody we're possibly going to be working with. We will... we'll probably do that next. We got every dividend you could have gotten out of making that first record. [We got] a family, each other, success musically... it's great," Benatar tells PRIDE.

"Nobody really has any true concept of our partnership from the very beginning. I still think that the greatest accomplishment hasn't happened yet," Giraldo adds.

While a biopic is in the works, the duo are still riding high after a very successful year. Most recently, the power couple were finally admitted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Although it was a momentous occasion, the HBO Max special cut out a certain part of Benatar's acceptance speech.

"I was being a smart-ass when I started my speech and the first thing that I said was 'I just want to say one thing before I start. All is forgiven.' They cut it! They totally cut it," Benatar says.

Not only are Benatar and Giraldo accepting more accolades at the end of 2022, but they're also wrapping up their latest entertainment venture: Invincible – The Musical.

The musical incorporates the iconic music of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo into the timeless story of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The classic rockers teamed up with Bradley Bredeweg, creator of Freeform’s The Fosters and Good Trouble, to tell this modern rendition.

"Spyder and I seven or eight years ago were starting to think about doing a biographical musical. We met up with Bradley and we all clicked together. The songs aren't just plugged in in their original forms. They've all been reorchestrated, rearranged into theatrical pieces, so it's really been amazingly fun to do," Benatar explains.

“As a gay teenager I used to read the classics all of the time. I knew that if I was going to dare take on the greatest love story of all time combined with the greatest rock stars of all time, then I needed to mix it up and modernize the characters and the world for new generations. So diversifying the world and incorporating several LGBTQ+ characters became front and center to me," Bredeweg adds.

"We thought about putting our songs and teaching our audience the truth behind our partnership and our beginnings. That was the gist of what we started with and then seeing the plugin with Romeo and Juliet, it just told the story. I love it. I like to challenge myself... it's important to me, " Giraldo says.

Even though the time has nearly come to say goodbye to 2022, the rockers have already announced exciting plans in 2023. The two will be opening for P!nk on select dates on her national US tour.

However, don't expect them to fly through the air like P!nk does every show.

"We've always really loved her. She's such a badass. She has a great voice! We'll be crashing and burning, [so] it'll be great. Spyder just can't believe he's surrounded by females all the time," Benatar says.

"She'll be flying all over the place. I personally like to be grounded, so I'll be watching from the ground. I don't want to be in the air. I want to be ground level," Giraldo adds.

Invincible – The Musical is playing now in Los Angeles at The Wallis’ Bram Goldsmith Theater until December 18. To see the full interview with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, check out the video below.
