Now slay!
Kevin Aviance is a renowned queer drag artist and nightlife staple who was featured on Beyoncé’s latest album Renaissance. The gag? He found out he was featured on Bey's record the same day the rest of the world did.
"I passed out. I felt the blood go to my head. I was angry. I was happy. All of these emotions at one time came to me," Aviance tells PRIDE.
The star is now bringing his signature looks and iconic energy on his own CVNTY Ball that serves as the unofficial afterparty of Queen B’s Renaissance Tour.
"Every club is different. It all starts when I walk through the door until I leave, four [or] six outfits later. The floor stays packed the entire time. Every time I put something on, the kids were just soaking it in."
Aviance, originally from Virginia, became a member of the House of Aviance in Washington, D.C, by Mother Juan, before moving to New York City. He became a queer superstar with the release of the legendary 1999 album Box of Chocolates, which included the hit song “C*nty.” It’s that song that is sampled on Beyoncé’s song “PURE/HONEY.”
"It's everything that I ever wanted as a kid. I'm grateful for it all. These are not older fans, these are all new people. It made me really emotional."
The CVNTY Ball Tour has upcoming stops that match up with the Renaissance Tour in Atlanta, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Dallas.
