He's come a long way since The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!
Justin Sylvester is one of the hosts for E! News and brings his fabulous energy to some of the top red carpets around the world.
However, his success in the entertainment industry was no easy feat. The star grew up in a conservative small town in Louisiana and faced discrimination for being a Black gay man.
"Nothing was ever handed to me. When you give a gay a task, the girls will not only do the task, but they'll raise the bar," Sylvester tells PRIDE.
The star moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for TV and began his career as an assistant to Kyle Richards on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Soon after, the E! News host secured a spot on Daily Pop and his own weekly segment on The Today Show.
"The universe has given me a life that I could never imagine. My life is by far my biggest wildest dreams. I feel like I'm just starting. I know I'm just starting. It's very important to know that this is not where it ends. I really feel like I am so ready to get to the next level. I'm going to get to the next level."
Sylvester not only deserves the success he has today, but he earned it. The TV personality actively sought out opportunities and knocked on every door he could when starting out in Los Angeles.
"I grew up with a bunch of kids who were very privileged. That life was never for me. For myself and a lot of gay men out there who had to run from a situation and create a life that was all their own... I think those gay men have become some of the most successful people because they realized that they had to make their own opportunities."
With his career blossoming in real time, Sylvester hopes other aspiring entertainers in the LGBTQ+ community can live boldly and be the best versions of themselves in their professional and personal lives.
"I get to sit next to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush and be myself [on The Today Show]. It's really wild when you stop and really think about it. As much as we have a community in Los Angeles, there are still kids who have to hide who they are. A lot of times we forget that we do have brothers and sisters out there who are just trying to make it to the next day. Can we just stop for a minute and be ourselves? Let's celebrate it. I love the next generation."
