Bebe Rexha is opening up the vault!
The popular singer and songwriter just released her new album Bebe and is taking a trip down memory lane with PRIDE.
Her first hit, "Take Me Home," dropped ten years ago and is still blasting in cars, clubs, and speakers today. As a collaboration with Cash Cash, the song kicked off Bebe's singing career.
However, the early days weren't so glamorous as she learned by promoting the record across the country.
"It was my first big song on the radio. Bed bugs comes to mind. When I was touring that song, we were doing a radio promo and we were in Buffalo. I stayed at this hotel and we were getting ready for a show night. I go into my hotel room and I jump on the bed. I looked down and I see things moving on the bed. Turns out, there were bed bugs in the hotel and I had to go to the venue to perform 'Take Me Home.' I had nowhere to get ready because I had to leave the hotel," Rexha says.
That may have been a nightmare of a situation, but as Bebe's career progressed, she continued working with some of the biggest artists in the industry.
In 2017, the star hit the studio with Lil Wayne on their song "The Way I Are." As the two bonded while recording the single, the rapper got Rexha a very memorable present.
"He bought me the most beautiful gift. It was a necklace with matching earrings and a matching bracelet. They all had bumblebees on them and they were from Gucci. This is the nicest gift any collaborator has ever gotten me. Wayne was always so classy, so kind, so sweet, such a gentleman. When I think of 'The Way I Are,' I think of that jewelry set."
One of her most recent collabs was with Doja Cat on their popular bop "Baby, I'm Jealous." As Doja continues to shine in the entertainment industry, Bebe is grateful she had the opportunity to work with the rising artist.
"She's so awesome. She's killing the game. She's so creative. She's so innovative. Her work ethic is incredible. I look forward to seeing how much she kills it in the next 10+ years. I'm excited to see what comes out of Doja in the future."
