As important as it is for us to keep moving and looking forward when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights, it's also important to remember and learn from the older generations, especially since they lived through some of the roughest and most inconceivable hardships as queer people. Thanks to a super emotional mini-documentary, we're seeing just how far society has come when it comes to acceptance.
In their recently released doc, Dublin Bus (the Irish captial's public transportation system) interviewed some senior members of the LGBTQ+ community about what it was like growing up during a time where being queer was still very much taboo and looked down upon. Many of the seniors shared emotional stories of feeling like outcasts, and all of them admitted that they have never even been to a Pride parade or event. The seniors then get invited by younger queer peeps to attend this year's Dublin Pride for the first time, and we literally can't help but cry so many happy tears when it happens.
The look on each of the older LGBTQ+ people's faces as they don rainbow gear and walk in their first Pride parade is so, so pure, and sparks so much freakin' joy!!
