Bad news for fans of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Netflix just canceled the cult-favorite, supernatural TV series ahead of its upcoming Part 4.
According to a report from TVLine, the dark, queer-inclusive show's upcoming eight episodes, which are set to premiere at a still-unannounced date sometime later this year, will be their last.
"Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from Day One,” CAOS showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TVLine in a statement. "The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four."
As expected, the Archieverse fandom wasn't necessarily happy about all of this, especially considering how its sister show Katy Keene on The CW was also canceled literally a few days ago...
In fact, fans have even started an online petition to try and get the streaming giant to bring back CAOS for more new episodes.
"We are petitioning to bring this back after it’s unfair cancellation and ask that it be renewed for a 5th season," the Change.org petition, which currently has over 18,000+ signatures at the time of reporting, reads. "The show is extremely loved by fans and we hope this petition can bring the show back from the dead."
If there's anything we've learned from fandoms recently (we're looking at you Lucifer!) it's that they know what they want and they won't stop fighting for it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out!
