Will the MCU's 'Young Avengers' Characters All Be LGBTQ+?

It would be history-making moment, but we'll believe it when we actually see it...

Is an all-LGBTQ+ Avengers movie coming to theaters sometime in the not-so-distant future??? Well, that's what some rumors say, at least...

According to anonymous sources reported from the We Got This Covered blog, while Disney-owned Marvel Studios is still unsure of how to integrate the heroes from the popular Young Avengers comics into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are murmurs about making the whole team of youthful heroes entirely LGBTQ+ when they do.

If you're a Young Avengers readers, then you already know the series is already very diverse and very queer-friendly. The lineup of characters includes openly lesbian, Latinx badass America Chavez, (one of our fave geeky queer ships of all time) Hulkling (or Theodore "Teddy" Altman) and his fiancé Wiccan (aka William "Billy" Kaplan), and bisexual Hawkeye heir Kate Bishop. America already has her own Disney+ series, Miss America, in the works, and Hulking, a canonically queer Kree hero who made their first appearance in the Young Avengers comic in 2005, is rumored to be featured in Brie Larson's upcoming Captain Marvel 2.

It's worth noting that WGTC's source is unnamed, and thus the authenticity and reliability of this new info. on Young Avengers is questionable. Still, we'd love to believe that a huge box-office film consisting of an all-queer lineup is within the realm of possibilities during our lifetime, so we're definitely going to (cautiously) be optimistic about this.

Considering Marvel Studios' less than stellar record of LGBTQ+ representation on the big screen, we'll only believe that the studio really cares about showcasing queer and trans heroes when we actually start seeing them have prominent roles in their many, many. Until then, our attitude is pretty much...
