8 Queer Couples Costumes That Haven't Been Done to Death
We all know there aren't very many obvious choices when it comes to queer couples costumes.

So we have to think a little bit outside the box. Here are some Halloween options for you and your significant other to try on for size without worrying that there will be three others queer couples dressed up just like you.
Beca Mitchell & Chloe Beale ('Pitch Perfect')
The biggest queer media tragedy in 2017 was the news that Pitch Perfect 3 actually filmed a kiss between fan faves Beca & Chloe but Universal decided to cut the damn thing and bury it where we could never, ever see it. Show ‘em the finger this year by dressing up as this aca-awesome couple who were giving each other definite toners throughout all three films.
What you’ll both need: If you want to be particularly recognizable as Barden Bellas, go with the og uniform, which is basically a flight attendant outfit with a yellow scarf. Don’t forget a pitch pipe and a cup — and make sure you know how to use it.
Jake Gyllenhaal & Tom Holland
Jake & Tom’s bromance has been well-documented during MCU press tours. In fact, Jake went so far as to caption a recent Instagram photo with the “news” of their impending nuptuals. We ship it.
What you’ll both need: You can dress up as their MCU counterparts (Mysterio & Spider-Man) or literally any combination of roles the two have done. Personally, we suggest pairing Donnie Darko Jake with Lip Sync Battle Tom, but if you need something really last minute, you can always just dress in nearly identical blue shirts, jeans, and brown boots.
Carol Aird & Carol Danvers ('Carol' & 'Captain Marvel')
Carol may be one of the preeminent lesbian films of our time, but if you want to make your Carol costume even gayer, get your GF to dress up as the absolutely homosexual Carol, Carol Danvers.
What you’ll need: A fur coat, a string of pearls, and the ability to seduce a younger woman.
What she’ll need: An excellent leather jacket, an old Nine Inch Nails t-shirt, and no debts to any man.
Tyler, the Creator & Jaden Smith
Was this a real relationship? Did we ever figure that out for sure? Who knows, but it doesn’t matter — they’ll still make for an absolutely adorable couples costume option this Halloween.
What you’ll need: A polo shirt or a vest and some kind of hat.
What he’ll need: Short, bleached hair, a hoodie, and an array of cryptic tweet-sized phrases to word vomit at anyone nearby.
Rose & Rosie (YouTube)
There's no shortage of queer YouTube couples you could dress up as for Halloween, but Rose & Rosie are the forever fave. But if you go as these lovely ladies, see if you can try to get a sponsorship deal with Best Fiends first, because you’ll be talking about them a LOT.
What you’ll need: A solid color hoodie or a baseball tee, a bandana, and don’t forget to let your GF do your makeup.
What she’ll need: Something extra girly so everyone knows she’s the bisexual one, baby talk, and a diary for you to keep stealing throughout the night.
What you’ll both need: Queer gal pals for you both to jokingly(?) hit on throughout the night, even though everyone knows you’ll always go home together.
Hannibal Lecter & Will Graham ('Hannibal')
Nothing says “Halloween” like Cannibal Hannibal, so with this couples costume, you have the added bonus of being spooky af too.
What you’ll need: Throw on your plaidest suit and get ready to serve a very mysterious dinner to your unsuspecting guests.
What he’ll need: A perpetual air of confusion, some scruff, and some sort of homage to a stag.
Cara Delevingne & Ashley Benson
We’re totally obsessed with these adorable gal pals and they basically handed the queer ladies of the world an amazing Halloween costume idea when the paps caught them with the sex bench that basically destroyed gay Twitter.
What you’ll both need: Short shorts, sunglasses, and a cardboard box with the words ‘SEX BENCH’ written across it, unless you feel like shelling out $450 for the real deal.
Garnet ('Steven Universe')
If you’re single this Halloween but can’t let go of the idea of a couples costume, it’s time get your fusion on and be two Crystal Gems jammed into one, aka Garnet aka Ruby & Sapphire. It’s a bit of a downer costume, but if you’re already poring over a list of couples costumes when you’re going solo, well, there’s not much we can do for you, is there?
What you’ll need: Sunglasses, a geometric pink bodysuit, and we’re guessing vodka. Lots of vodka.
