It's been a long time coming, but it looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe really is going to start getting a lot more diverse!
According to That Hashtag Show, Marvel Studios is set to begin production of the upcoming superhero movie The Eternals sometime this summer, and while casting hasn't been completed yet, apparently How to Get Away with Murder star Conrad Ricamora is in talks to play a leading role!

That Hashtag Show reports that Marvel Studio execs are "seeking an actor to fill the role of James, who is 'intellectual, emotional, and has a strong sense of family'" and that they are "looking at openly gay/bisexual Asian actors in their 20’s." We know him best for playing the role of Oliver on HTGAWM, but Conrad (who is of FIlipino descent and openly gay IRL) fits the description of what Marvel is looking for in The Eternals—and we're crossing our fingers (and everything else we have that we can cross) in the hopes that he nails down this role!
Marvel Studios has made strides for more diversity in their films in the past few years, featuring badass lead women, characters of color, and a bisexual heroine in recent titles like Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Thor: Ragnarok. But the studio has yet to have an openly gay, male actor play an openly gay, male role, so if the possibility of Conrad becoming a part of The Eternals (which already has big names like Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani attached to it) becomes a reality, it'll be a HUGE step in the right direction when it comes to representation!
