Image Comics is celebrating its 25th anniversary with variant comic book covers every month, and this June's covers celebrate LGBT Pride!
The publishing company is releasing 11 comic books with LGBT covers throughout the month of June and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Human Rights Campaign.
“It’s never been a secret that Image Comics is supportive of creative freedom," wrote Eric Stephenson, Publisher at Image Comics."But it’s important that we also make it clear that we stand for inclusivity, diversity, and equality, now more than ever. We hope these variants will serve as a positive display of that ongoing commitment.”
One of the most striking images is from popular comic turned acclaimed TV series, The Walking Dead, and features gay character, Jesus, disembowelling a zombie with a rainbow Pride flag. The image was colored by trans illustrator Tamra Bonvillain.
Image Comics isn't the first to show support to the LGBT community. DC and IDW Publishing came together last year with 'Love Is Love', a 144-page comic dedicated to the victims of last June's Pulse Nightclub shooting. The book raised over $165,000 for the 49 killed, survivors, and their families.
