Marvel Announces First All-Female Avengers Team
If you thought the Avengers sequel coming out this may was the coolest thing Marvel has going for it right now, think again. Yesterday, Marvel Comics announced A-Force, its first all-female Avengers team, and we're already in love. The A-Force group will include (to list a few) She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru, and a new superhero, the "cosmically superpowered" Singularity. And even better than these spectacular names is that the writers are intent on developing these characters with a different set of qualities and identities than is currently present in the Marvel universe. We're confident the A-Force is definitely in reliable hands for this mission as writer G. Willow Wilson previously re-booted Ms. Marvel as a Muslim and co-writer Marguerite Bennett wrote the Marvel stand-alone Angela.
The A-Force will debut in as part of Marvel's new Secret Wars series, in which all previous Avengers teams have disembled and it's time for the new crew to step in. Says Wilson of what we have to look forward to, "They'll all have to come together to answer some big questions: What would you sacrifice to succeed? What is being a hero worth?” Even cooler, while this may be Marvel's first all-female Avengers team it's actually their fifteenth all-female title, and there could be more on the way. We say the more the merrier!
