5 Things Yearbooks Should Exclude Instead of Gay Teens
In another sad display of high school homophobia, Betsy Lane High School senior, Dalton Maldonado, was excluded from his basketball team's yearbook page — because he recently came out as gay. Not. Cool. Thankfully, YouTuber Raymond Braun interviewed Maldonado for the scoop.
We're sure there are other things this Kentucky high school should have excluded from the yearbook, but this gay teen was not one. How about omitting:
1. Bullies
No one likes a bully. They made our lives awful back in the day, and they continue to do so today. Say goodbye to your black and white glamour shots, bullies!
2. Homophobic Faculty
Don't feel like supporting all of your students? Bye, Felicia!
3. The "Mostly Likely To" Section
These are pointless because 1) They never come true, and 2) They set unrealistic expectations. How are we supposed to live up to "most likely to be a stand-up comedian"?!
4. Arts-to-Sports Ratio
So, 27 pages of sports-balls-yay and half a page for band-art-drama. No more! Equal representation for the band geeks and art nerds, amiright?
5. Heteronormative Prom Pics
If there's one thing that could use a good queering in high school, it's definitely prom. Let's mix it up!
