Some exciting news just dropped for fans of Shadow and Bone, particularly for those who can’t get enough of the Crows: it seems a spin-off featuring our favorite Ketterdam toughs may be on the way.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Heisserer revealed that a Six of Crows spin-off has been in development behind the scenes. According to Heisserer, the series would focus on the events from the two Crows books and include, in part, the “jurda parem” Grisha drug plotline.
The question is: if it happens, when? It might be a while, as the show is still very much in the early stages of development and discussion, and has yet to be officially greenlit. Whether it gets fast-tracked largely depends on how the second season of the queer-inclusive fantasy series performs on Netflix.
This is the part where we implore you to watch Shadow and Bone season two — twice. Believe us, you want a Six of Crows adaptation. Like, really want it.

Heisserer also shared that the events of the spin-off would take place during the timeline of the season two finale, expanding on it and showing how the characters embarked on different paths. “It would be its own little season of fun that our characters would get to be a part of,” he told EW.
While the show has yet to be ordered up by Netflix, Heisserer is already hard at work bringing it to life. “There’s a lot of work that’s gone into the planning of this. The hope is then we get to act on that planning,” Heisserer said. “But of course, it’s about how well season 2 numbers do. And if so, then [co-showrunner Daegan Fryklind] and I will continue to carry the mantle of both shows.”
But most of all, Heisserer is excited about the opportunity to expand on these beloved characters even more in the spin-off. “To be able to give them their own real estate so they have elbow room allows us to go deeper on some of these character arcs,” he teased.
Let’s hope there’s more than a shadow of a chance this happens — and soon.
