Season two of Schmigadoon has left its technicolor bright world behind to discover the grittier world of Schmigcago, where the rules have changed, and the references are a bit darker, taking inspiration from the musicals of the 1960s and ‘70s.

In this exclusive sneak peek of episode three “Bells and Whistles,” we get a taste of what this new world holds, as Melissa (Cecily Strong) meets with the town butcher Dooley Flint (Alan Cumming) who is on the verge of baking many a townsperson in a pie.

In the episode, which airs today on Apple TV+, Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) is on the run after being falsely accused of murder, and it’s up to Melissa to do her best Nancy Drew impersonation around town. This is how she comes to enter Flint's butcher shop and learn what drives him. No surprise, it’s revenge.

Channeling his best Sweeney Tood, Cumming as Flint lays out a gruesome history of betrayal, heartbreak, parental alienation, and bloody vengeance. It’s pure Cumming camp and one of the many reasons that we can’t get enough of this incredibly entertaining and charming show.

Watch the exclusive clip of Schmigadoon episode three, “Bells and Whistles,” below.

Along with Strong and Cumming, Keegan-Michael Key, Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit all return in new roles. They are joined by Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page in mysterious roles.
