After Schitt’s Creekcame to an end in 2020, fans immediately had one question—when is it coming back?
For better or worse, we’re living through an era where revivals of popular series and franchises seem inevitable, thanks to a combination of streaming making existing episodes easily accessible and studios becoming too risk-averse to try anything new. So seeing the good folks of Schitt’s Creek return to our screens in some fashion sooner or later seems entirely plausible.
Producer Andrew Barnsley recently sparked a renewed hope in that idea, telling The Messenger that a revival is “something that I know Dan and Eugene [Levy] are considering all the time, and I think it’s going to be a timing thing.”
Though he stressed the importance of the characters returning in a way that doesn’t “tarnish the legacy” of the original series, with the original creative team involved, we have absolute confidence that they could find a way to do a revival right.
That said, there are a few things we already know we would love to see if and when the gang comes back. Of course any follow-up needs to keep focus on the titular town, and David (Dan Levy) and his relationship with Patrick (Noah Reid) would undoubtedly be centered in the narrative. We would also expect the remaining members of the Rose family to return, along with all the major players we fell in love with over the course of six seasons.
But once we take all those things for granted, what else would we like to see if Schitt’s Creek comes back?

Although nothing will come close to the absolute delight that was Moira Rose (Catherine O’Hara) filming The Crows Have Eyes 3, we’re eager to see how the revival of the soap opera that made her famous has been going. Give us clips from the series, a revolving door of Moira’s wigs, and—if we’re stupid lucky—maybe even an appearance from Nicole Kidman, who was supposed to star in the revived soap alongside Moira.
And barring any of that, at least give us another excellent brand deal opportunity. C’mon, Herb Ertlinger!

While the end of the series saw David settling into domestic life in Schitt’s Creek, Alexis (Annie Murphy) was finally ready to take flight, moving to New York to continue her burgeoning career as a publicist. Quite frankly, this could have been its own spin-off series, but we’re dying to know what direction this choice has taken her in.
Considering how she left things with Ted (Dustin Milligan), it would also be great to see if the two of them can find their way back to one another after his three-year stint in the Galapagos Islands. We’re rooting for you two!

Tim Rozon grew a scragglier beard and left Schitt’s Creek after two seasons to go star in Wynonna Earp, returning briefly for a satisfying wrap-up to his character’s early romance with Alexis in season four. But considering Mutt is also the son of Roland (Chris Elliot) and Jocelyn Schitt (Jennifer Robertson), who played such a major role in the series, having him essentially just disappear from their lives and thoughts still feels like a loose end, especially after the Schitts had a new baby.
Even if Mutt were to appear only briefly in a potential revival, it would be a fun nod to the original. Or maybe Twyla (Sarah Levy) can name one of her weird smoothies after him at her newly-purchased café—they were dating when the show started, after all.

The performances put on over the course of Schitt’s Creek were deeply enjoyable, from the Jazzagals doing their thing to the big production of Cabaret in season five. The latter allowed Stevie (Emily Hampshire) to showcase her star power in an unexpected and delightful way, and considering both she and Patrick stayed in town, we can only assume community theater is thriving.
But the Jazzagals were putting on their shows long before Jocelyn and Moira set their sites on a bigger production, and the world of Schitt’s Creek would not be the same if they aren’t an integral part of it.

Although Schitt’s Creek has a well-deserved reputation as a beloved LGBTQ+ show, creating a small town where not one person blinked at the loud and proud existence of queer people and keeping the focus entirely on queer men was a little disheartening.
It was implied early in the series that Ronnie (Karen Robinson) is a lesbian, though not confirmed until a short scene in the final season. And having a character very casually be queer while the story focuses on other aspects of who they are is perfectly great, actually. But it maybe shouldn’t be the only queer female representation over the course of six seasons. If Schitt’s Creek ever came back as a proper series again, hopefully that would change.
