After 15 seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and seven All Stars, there have been numerous iconic impersonations at the Snatch Game.
From contestants trying to make RuPaul laugh for the first time in their lives to veteran comedy queens, there have been several successful Snatch Game impersonations featured on Drag Race. Though this challenge started out with a focus on looking and sounding as much as possible like famous women, the Snatch Game has ultimately evolved into a bona fide improv comedy exercise where contestants can impersonate mythical figures, robots, other drag artists, and even male celebs (shocker!).
With Drag Race having reached its 15-year anniversary, it’s time to look back at some of the best impersonations that made Snatch Game herstory.
Scroll through to check out our definitive ranking of best Snatch Game performances in the history of RuPaul’s Drag Race in the US.
The judges didn't always appreciate Alexis Michelle's talents throughout season nine of Drag Race, but the New York City queen's impersonation of Liza Minnelli at the Snatch Game had them all dying of laughter. In the end, Michelle won that maxi challenge – deservedly so!
Gottmik's Snatch Game performance of Paris Hilton had us all yelling "that's so hot" to our TVs. While Gottmik was best known for her fashion lewks, the Snatch Game proved that she also had the comedy chops to stand up against hilarious queens like Rosé and Kandy Muse.
Remember the long-standing debate about whether or not a queen should be able to play a male celebrity at the Snatch Game? Well, here came Gigi Goode playing Maria The Robot in season 12 and winning the Snatch Game with that impersonation. AI is taking over, indeed!
It can be tricky for a drag queen to impersonate someone like Anna Nicole Smith... but somehow, Adore Delano pulled off an absolutely hilarious and uncanny Snatch Game performance that has us laughing to this day.
Though she didn't go on to win this Snatch Game, Kylie Sonique Love's impersonation of Dolly Parton was simply perfection. Much like Goode in season 12 and Gottmik in season 13, no one expected that a beauty queen like Love could deliver such a hilarious Snatch Game, but she proved everybody wrong with this incredible performance.
Flavor Flav, but make him woke! Shea Couleé pulled off the unthinkable on All Stars 5: playing not only a male character at the Snatch Game, but a very male character that no one could imagine existing in the queer universe of Drag Race. And yet, Couleé did what needed to be done and won this Snatch Game.
Aquaria was another lewk queen who went into the Snatch Game with very low expectations. She also chose to play Melania Trump in the challenge, which was a huge risk for those political times in the US. Nonetheless, Aquaria reigned supreme in this Snatch Game and got another maxi win for her track record.
Judge Judy is RuPaul's favorite TV personality of all time, so only someone as funny as Bianca Del Rio could live up to those expectations by impersonating her at the Snatch Game. Even 15 seasons later, Del Rio's Judge Judy still stands as one of the funniest Snatch Game performances ever.
Caitlyn Jenner was another divisive figure for a queen to impersonate at the Snatch Game, but Trinity The Tuck legitimately pulled it off like probably no one else could. Even though we learned in season nine that Tuck could be funny, this was an all-time high performance for this queen on Drag Race.
"Excuse me, we originated the language" is a Drag Race quote that we'll never be able to get out of our heads. Before the Snatch Game in season six, there were doubts about whether or not BenDeLaCreme could pull off this impersonation of Maggie Smith. After it was over, we couldn't think of anybody else to win this maxi challenge.
Ginger Minj's Adele impersonation was pure perfection. While it is not surprising for Minj to be funny in a comedy challenge, this Snatch Game performance still stands as her most hilarious moment on Drag Race.
Jimbo blew everyone away with her impersonation of Shirley Temple on the Snatch Game of All Stars 8. The expectations were already high for Jimbo given that she had won the first-ever Snatch Game on Canada's Drag Race, but the queen was able to deliver a truly next-level performance that us gagging.
After multiple failed attempts of bringing Eartha Kitt to the Snatch Game, Jujubee finally pulled it off on All Stars 5. Not only was this impersonation really funny, but it was also instantly quotable and meme-able for Drag Race fans all over social media.
Monét X Change's version of Maya Angelou is “no punk b*tch,” and we loved every single second of it. This particular performance came right after we had just seen Chi Chi DeVayne fail at her Maya Angelou impersonation on All Stars 3, making X Change's hilarious take on the celebrated poet even more impressive.
For longtime Björk fans, Katya's Snatch Game performance on All Stars 2 was truly brilliant. But even viewers who did not know Björk before Drag Race were rolling on the floor laughing at what Katya was serving. This is certainly an all-time best Snatch Game impersonation for the franchise.
Yes, it's BenDeLaCreme again! After delivering an incredible Maggie Smith in season six, DeLa had the nerve to kill it at the Snatch Game once again on All Stars 3. This impersonation of Paul Lynde was hilarious, dynamic, and expertly done, solidifying DeLa's place as a frontrunner in the competition even further.
In many ways, Jinkx Monsoon invented the method for all queens to play – and win – the Snatch Game in future seasons following her impersonation of Little Edie in season five. She was the first queen to successfully interact with other contestants at the Snatch Game, interject herself at the right time when someone else's joke didn't land, and stand out in a room full of much bigger personalities.
Bob The Drag Queen played Uzo Aduba and Carol Channing at the Snatch Game in season eight, which were both very funny. With that said, Bob's impersonation of Carol Channing was even more legendary and is still remembered to this day. In hindsight, it's no surprise that Bob killed it at the Snatch Game... and yet, this performance blew everyone's wildest expectations at the time.
As Ross Mathews put it, there's a whole generation of queer people who now mostly remember Mae West as Alaska's impersonation of the actress. This was a truly phenomenal Snatch Game performance from Alaska on All Stars 2 that proved that this queen was "in it to win it" on the show.
After spending her entire career impersonating Cher, the time came for Chad Michaels to live up to every expectation at the Snatch Game in season four. Thankfully, Michaels' performance was everything we wanted and more – with outfit changes, wig reveals, and new catchphrases galore!
There's no way around it: Jinkx Monsoon's impersonation of Judy Garland on All Stars 7 is the absolute best Snatch Game performance of all time. This queen, who had already blown our minds in season five, somehow managed to outdo her own self during this second time around. A wonderful and brilliant comedic performance that will be incredibly hard for anyone to beat in future seasons.
