Pedro Pascal Pays Sweet Tribute To Bella Ramsey At MTV Awards

Pedro Pascal gave a moving acceptance speech about his co-star Bella Ramsey after the pair took home the trophy for Best Duo at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards went ahead with a pre-taped ceremony amid the writers’ strike, but that didn’t stop Pedro Pascal from giving a heartfelt tribute to his The Last of Us costar Bella Ramsey.

The pair won the award for Best Duo for their roles in the hit HBO Max show, giving Pascal the opportunity to thank Ramsey.

“If you want your golden popcorn [trophy], you have to come and get it, that way I can see you again! I miss you. I love you. You are the duo… you are me, I am you. We are we.” Pascal continued, “I wish Bella and I were together, and we will be soon, so stay tuned.”

Both Ramsey and Pascal were first launched into fame with their roles on Game of Thrones, but it wasn’t until their friendship on The Last of Us that fans fell in love with the twosome whose real-life friendship has continued long after the cameras stopped rolling on season one.

Pascal’s emotional speeches didn’t end there, he also nabbed the trophy for Best Hero and took the opportunity to talk directly to his young fans, seeming to reference all of the anti-LGBTQ+ pieces of legislation that are sweeping the US.

“I wish we could all be together so that I could look into your eyes and tell you that all the young people in the world are my heroes and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you,” Pascal said in his acceptance speech. “When I say that you deserve a world that serves your interests, you deserve to be healthy, you deserve to be safe, you deserve for your individual rights to be fought for and protected, you deserve real heroes in this world because you are real heroes to me and I love you.”

This is a topic that is likely near and dear to his heart given that his sister Lux is transgender and Bella Ramsey came out as gender fluid earlier this year.

When accepting the award for Best Show, Pascal — who has been dubbed the internet's "slutty daddy" — also paid tribute to The Last of Us writers who are currently on strike seeking better pay.

"Craig and Neil can't be here,” he said. “We are all… standing in solidarity with the WGA that is fighting very hard for fair wages. We thank you, we love you."

If you’re thinking, “How could I love this man more?” Well, just you wait, because soon enough you’ll get to see him play a queer character on the big screen in his upcoming film Strange Way of Life, directed by the openly gay Oscar winner Pedro Almodóvar. The film has been dubbed the DILFBrokeback Mountain, so of course we’re dying to see it!
