Over a year after Supergirl came to an end on The CW, Nicole Maines brought Nia Nal aka Dreamer back to the Arrowverse for a new team up.

The seventh episode of The Flash’s final season saw Nia rushing to Central City following a dream featuring a cameo from Iris (Candice Patton). The two of them get trapped in a dream world of alternate timelines and have to work together, using their skills as reporters to find a way out.

Speaking with TV Insider, Maines gushed about working with Patton and how well the two characters meshed on the show despite this being their first time on screen together.

“I have so much fun with Candice, oh my god. She’s so hilarious and we had so much fun in between takes, making TikToks and goofing off together,” she said. “But Iris and Nia together are…both journalists and both supporters of each other so they both kind of have the same way of thinking.”

The actress also told CBR that she “had this moment of, ‘This could have been an iconic duo if we had gotten more time together.’”

Fortunately, this isn’t quite the last we will see of Nia Nal. Maines will return to The Flash for one more episode next week, and she’s still working on the upcoming Dreamer-centric graphic novel, Bad Dream.

“I am writing whatever I want and having a great time,” she said. “The art is amazing. The colors look amazing. I am so excited for people to see some familiar faces.”
