Our dear Eleven is ready to move on.
Fans might be sad that Stranger Things is heading towards its end, but at least one cast member is ready for that curtain call.
Millie Bobby Brown spoke candidly about the show, her goals, and her life growing up in the spotlight with Glamour recently — a conversation that included her thoughts on the impending final season.
“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” she said. “Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”
Stranger Things was first released on Netflix in 2016 and has only dropped four seasons over the past seven years, with a nearly two year gap between seasons two and three, and three years between three and four. The fifth and final season was originally meant to be released in 2024—which would be two years since the prior season—but the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have bumped that estimate to sometime in 2025, due in part to how long the episodes take to film.
Considering that means Brown has been working on the breakout series since she was just 11 years old, it’s no wonder she’s ready to move on. But those who have appreciated the friendships between the cast will be happy to hear it sounds like she’s counting on those continuing.
“When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people,” she added.
While we wait for the last round of Stranger Things—and to see what Brown does next—the first four seasons are currently available on Netflix.
