The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace has confirmed that we will get to bid farewell to the Legends of Tomorrow crew in the final season of his show.
As the last remaining Arrowverse show still alive after The CW recently gutted all of its programming, The Flash was left with the Herculean task of not only wrapping up its own sprawling storylines in an unprecedentedly short 13-episode ninth season, but giving fans a chance to say goodbye to some of the characters from other shows that weren’t allowed a similar sendoff.
As much love as Batwoman had received in its last two seasons, the real concern has been whether we would see any more of the Legends, as their 7-season journey had ended on a brutal cliffhanger.
“My original concept was to have at least one — if not a two parter — that wrapped up Legends of Tomorrow,” Wallace told The Nerds of Color in a recent interview. “And you know, there will be a little crossover we get them back, we get them out of time jail, all these good things, Booster Gold, etc, etc. When we found out we only have 13 episodes, that was no longer possible.”
Wallace had previously suggested this shortened season wouldn’t give them enough time to close out another show’s story, and shared his disappointment over that, but this interview did provide fans with one little ray of light.
“We’re still writing a series finale so you never know what could happen at the very end,” he added. “Hope does spring eternal, but I just want to put that over. All the Legends at least are all going to appear in an episode.”
Considering we’ve had confirmation of actors from other shows in the Arrowverse, including Stephen Amell (Arrow), Javicia Leslie (Batwoman), and Nicole Maines (Supergirl), finally hearing that we’ll at least catch a glimpse of the Legends one last time — even without getting a proper end to their story — means a lot to fans.
