And just like that... our hype is through the roof for season two.

Kim Cattrall is set to reprise her role as Samatha Jones in season two of And Just Like That. Nature is healing.

Ok, there is one pretty big caveat: She will only be making a cameo, but should the show return for a third season, we can’t help but hope perhaps this is a path toward her returning full-time.

Variety reports that according to sources, “Cattrall shot her dialogue on March 22 in New York City, without seeing or speaking with the stars of the series, including Sarah Jessica Parker, or with And Just Like That showrunner Michael Patrick King.”

In the scene, Samantha, who had moved to London, is on a phone call to Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. In the previous season, the two were estranged, but in the finale, the two planned to reconnect and reconcile.

Variety also reports that Samtantha’s fit will be classic Sex and the City, as costume designer Patricia Field is also returning to dress her.

All of this news is extremely exciting to SATC fans, who sorely missed Samantha, and who thought this day may never come as the actor declared in 2016 that she was done playing the role, period. “I would have preferred for all of us to have some kind of event to warrant a third film,” Cattrall told Variety in 2022. “That didn’t happen.”

This decision led to both a public bust-up with Parker and with showrunner Michael Patrick King — both of whom said they didn’t see any way forward that included Cattrall returning. However, when Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max content spoke with Cattrall about returning, the actor was swayed.

And just like that, Sam is back.
