Sorry sweetie, but that’s not how this works.
Julia Fox says she’s been thinking of dating women a lot these days because of her “gay bone.”
Fox opened up about dating women in an interview with Ziwe Fumudoh on her show Ziwe. Fumudoh asked Fox, who famously dated Kanye West briefly if she’s currently seeing anyone, and “No, why would I wanna waste my time?” was her response. Ziwe suggested perhaps she should date women, and Fox said that doing just that has been on her mind.
“I, like, have been thinking about it a lot recently,” she told the host. “I have a gay bone and I need to explore that a little more. Maybe my ex-boyfriends weren’t wrong when they were calling me a lesbian and complaining that I never wanted to have sex with them.”
Fox added that she “can find love in all places and all races,” prompting Ziwe to ask what races she prefers to date. “Not white, first of all,” said Fox. “They all, like, are equally horrible, to be honest. All men. It’s just a man thing.”
Someone needs to explain to Fox that the desire to date women actually isn’t about your feelings towards men. That’s not how queerness works.
Fox did clarify her feelings about men later in the interview, saying that her issue isn’t with men but with the patriarchy and how it victimizes all genders. “I don’t want to seem like I’m just a man-hater, because I’m not. I hate the patriarchy and I think men are equal victims to it just as much as women,” she explained. “But when you see everyone getting fucked over, and you see that all the men that they’re not really that angry, and it’s like, ‘well, why aren’t you upset?’ And now that you’re not upset, it makes me feel like you’re not really on my team.”
During the interview, Fox also talked about her time working in a dungeon, gave her best dominatrix impression, and discussed the penis size of her former lovers. It’s an, ahem, eventful conversation.
Ziwe season three premieres November 18 on Showtime.
