Editor's note: this article contains spoilers for episode 5 of Agatha All Along, released on Wednesday, October 9 on Disney+.

Agatha All Along episode 5 ended with a scene that finally confirmed a long-standing theory among queer fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) based on events that took place in Marvel Comics: Joe Locke, who initially just played someone called "Teen" in the WandaVision spinoff series, is indeed the gay character known as Wiccan, a.k.a. Billy Kaplan, a.k.a. Billy Maximoff — one of the twin sons of Scarlet Witch, a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff.

This exciting reveal was heavily speculated, rumored, and debated, particularly when Locke's character remained unnamed for so long. On the other hand, there were also rumors that the Heartstopper actor could be playing Agatha Harkness' son, Nicholas Scratch, instead.

Toward the end of Agatha All Along episode 5, Teen yells out Nicholas Scratch's name to get Agatha Harkness' attention. But as soon as she mocks him — teasing that he's "just like his mother" — Agatha falls into a mud trap, and Teen proceeds to blast Lilia and Jen to join her down there.

The next shot of Locke slowly zooms out to reveal that his character is now wearing a crown, just like the Scarlet Witch's, but in blue. The episode then plays the pop banger "You Should See Me in a Crown" by another queer Billie, Eilish, off of her Grammy Award-winning album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. And our queer MCU heads have officially exploded.

It's been a long, long, long time coming, but it really does seem like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally entering its queer era by introducing a character like Wiccan into the franchise.

Who are Scarlet Witch's twin sons?

The Scarlet Witch, a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff, has two children in the Marvel comic books: the twins William "Billy" Maximoff and Thomas "Tommy" Shepherd.

Even though Wanda also had twins in the MCU, the kids were always shown as way too young to be properly identified or reveal that they had any powers. As they master their respective powers over time, Billy becomes the superhero named Wiccan, and Tommy becomes the superhero called Speed.

Who is Wiccan in the Marvel comics, and why are the gays excited?

Billy, a.k.a. Wiccan — which Agatha All Along revealed as the Marvel character that Joe Locke is actually playing — is not just Scarlet Witch's son, but he's also a key member of the Young Avengers and a literal LGBTQ+ trailblazer in the Marvel universe, as noted by Comic Book Resources.

As the Young Avengers assemble to form a team of superheroes, Wiccan ends up meeting Hulkling (a.k.a. Teddy Altman) as his teammate, but the two characters end up falling in love and eventually become what many fans consider Marvel's most prominent gay couple.

Over the course of different timelines in the comics, Wiccan and Hulking go on to date, get engaged, and even tie the knot — a relationship that exists in parallel with their adventures as Young Avengers.

It's still unclear when, where, and how Billy/Wiccan's twin brother, Tommy/Speed, will be revealed. Furthermore, it is even more unclear to speculate about the Hulkling entering the MCU anytime soon.

Nonetheless, we're still recovering from this Wiccan reveal in the fifth episode of Agatha All Along… and gagging over the fact that Joe Locke is really playing such an iconic queer Marvel superhero. We have to stan!

Agatha All Along is streaming new episodes every Wednesday on Disney+.
