It’s official, production on season two of Heartstopper has begun!
Today, Netflix dropped an adorable video of the cast saying hello to a brand new season — as well as introducing four new members to the cast.
Leila Khan as Sahar Zahid - a Higgs school student
Jck Barton as David Nelson - Nick’s older brother
Bradley Riches as James McEwan - a Truham school student
Nima Taleghani as Mr. Farouk - a Truham school teacher
In July, Netflix announced on Instagram that it was casting for Sahar. Specifically, it was searching for a plus-size British South Asian actor who identifies as female or non-binary to play the role of Sahar Zahid. Sahar is described as “no-nonsense, independent, a little cynical at times,” and in year 11 at Charlie and Nick’s school. “Needless to say we would like to ensure performers from the LGBTQIA+ community feel inspired to apply along with allies to our community,” read the post.

They found their Sahar in Leila Khan, who was offered the role of Sahar after the national casting call. This marks her first professional acting role. Then, Bradley Riches may look familiar as he played the role of a student in the first season of Heartstopper, but this time around he returns in the named role of James.
Speaking of familiar faces, all the lead cast members are back for the second season, including Kit Connor as Nick, Joe Locke as Charlie, Yasmin Finney as Elle, William Gao as Tao, Corinna Brown as Tara, Kizzy Edgell as Darcy, Sebastian Croft as Ben, Tobie Donovan as Isaac, Rhea Norwood as Imogen, and Jenny Walser as Tori.
There’s no word yet on an official return date for Heartstopper, but you can get a little taste of what’s to come in a video of the cast saying “hi’ to getting production underway.
