Are you ready for moreHeartstopper?
Netflix's hit teen series smashed onto our small screens in 2022 and became one of the streaming service's greatest successes. The queer YA drama captured the butterflies and anxiety of falling in love in high school along with the hearts of millions of viewers around the world, catapulting cast members Joe Locke, Kit Connor, and others into global stardom.
Much to fans' excitement, season two of Heartstopper is now in the throes of production, and details are slowly making their way out. Earlier today, Netflix revealed more information about three new cast members!
On social media, Netflix revealed that Bel Priestley will play Naomi, Ash Self will play Felix, and Thibault De Montalembert will be Stephane in the second season of Heartstopper.
The character of Stephane is Nick's father, whereas Naomi and Felix are new friends of Elle.
Netflix also confirmed that Olivia Colman will be returning as Sarah Nelson alongside Chetna Pandya, Fisayo Akinade, and Alan Turkington. Overall, though, season two is still in production and has no release date as of yet.
Earlier this week, Connor, who plays Nick on Heartstopper, came out as bisexual in an upsetting tweet. After the show premiered in April, fans began to speculate about the actor's sexuality. He was later spotted holding hands with a girl, which prompted some fans to accuse the 18-year-old of queerbaiting. On Monday, he decided to put the drama to rest. "I’m bi," he tweeted. "Congrats for forcing an 18-year-old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. bye".
Fans have now rallied around him, and many took the opportunity to have some important conversations around privacy and representation so that no one else feels pressured to come out in the same manner ever again.
