Ever since news broke that out actors Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer were starring as lovers in the upcoming series Fellow Travelers, it’s been right at the top of our must-see list. Now we finally have a teaser trailer that has us, impossibly, even more hyped!

Based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon and created by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner, Fellow Travelers is described as an epic love story and political thriller. As described by its creators, the eight-episode series will follow “two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. Bomer plays charismatic Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics. Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements – until he meets Tim Laughlin (Bailey), a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith. They begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on ‘subversives and sexual deviants,’ initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history.”

The series spans four decades as we follow the five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Jelani Alladin), Lucy (Allison Williams), and Frankie (Noah J. Ricketts) – “as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.”

In the trailer, we see Bomer and Bailey passing one another in a hallway and the sexual tension is palpable. This is followed by a series of flashes of the two throughout time, full of forbidden romance and stolen moments. Yep, we’re hooked.

Fellow Travelers is set to premiere on Paramount+ With SHOWTIME this fall. Watch the teaser trailer below.
