After what feels like forever the wait for the highly anticipated series Fellow Travelers premiere is almost over — and now we know exactly when that’s going to drop.
Today Showtime announced that the limited series which stars Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart, The Boys in the Band), and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as clandestine lovers is set to make its streaming debut on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, October 27 before its linear debut on Sunday, October 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
Fellow Travelers is being billed as an epic love story and political thriller. The series chronicles the forbidden romance of two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. According to the official synopsis, “Bomer plays charismatic Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics. Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements – until he meets Tim Laughlin (Bailey), a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith.“
The two meet and embark on a romance at a very inopportune time, just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants,” which began one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history. Fellow Travelers follows five main characters – Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Jelani Alladin), Lucy (Allison Williams), and Frankie (Noah J. Ricketts) across four decades, as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.
Oh yeah, we can’t wait to see this!
