Hulu is offering a first look at their upcoming 'darkly funny' crime thriller, Culprits, and it already sounds promising.

The eight-episode series revolves around a group of elite criminals that commit a high-stakes heist, only to find themselves getting picked off one-by-one by a killer after they’ve already “gone their separate ways and have tried to leave their old lives behind.”

“Why are they being stalked, who is behind the mayhem, and will they be able to find one another in time to protect themselves and the people they live?” the synopsis asks.

Starting the story after the team has already successfully committed their crime suggests we’re in for something outside of the standard heist story with Culprits, particularly with the slasher elements mixed in. And that makes sense, coming from creator J Blakeson, best known for the sapphic Netflix swindler film I Care a Lot, but who launched his career with the twisty thriller The Disappearance of Alice Creed.

The series will see Blakeson reunite with Alice Creed star Gemma Arterton, and also features Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Kirby, Niamh Algar, Kamel El Basha, Tara Abboud, Kevin Vidal, Ned Dennehy, and Suzy Eddie Izzard.

An exact release date hasn’t yet been set, but we can expect Culprits to hit Hulu sometime this fall. In the meantime, check out the first images released from the series below.
