Dracmorda and Swanthula are summoning Halloween to our screens early this year, which is exactly the kind of trick and treat we love.
The drag duo has announced that they’ve produced a Halloween-inspired variety show, Halfway to Halloween, that’s heading to Shudder and AMC+ this April.
According to Variety, the special will “pay homage to the classic holiday variety shows, featuring scripted skits, musical performances, and guest appearances — including David Dastmalchian (Suicide Squad), Kevin Smith (Clerks), Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live), Matthew Lillard (Scream), Jorge Garcia (Lost), Steve Agee (Peacemaker), Barbara Crampton (Chopping Mall), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Katya (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Derek Mears (Friday the 13th), Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek), and the Twin Temple band.” Also making appearances are Dragula faves and forever Titans, Kendra Onixx, Koco Caine, and Melissa Befierce.
“We’re so thrilled that our first scripted project with the AMC family is celebrating all things Halloween!” the Boulet Brothers said in a statement. “Like most of our fans, we have a difficult time waiting a full year to celebrate our favorite holiday, so we’ve pulled together an incredible group of actors, writers, and musicians to make this special the best Halloween special you’ve ever seen – even if we’re only halfway there!”
This variety special is part of a larger overall deal between the Boulets and AMC, in which the duo is expanding their massively successful Dragula franchise following the success of The Boulet Brothers' Dragulga, Dragula: Resurrection, and Dragula: Titans.
And since the Boulets know how to stay booked and blessed, they’re also launching their national tour featuring the cast of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans in April as well.
Is there such a thing as too much Dragula content? No. The answer is no.
Halfway to Halloween airs on AMC+ and Shudder April 25. Stay tuned for more spooky deets.
