A new LGBTQ+ series is on its way!
From Jonah Hill's production company Strong Baby, Amazon Studios, and A24 comes a new coming-out comedy series called Overcompensating, written by and starring TikTok personality Benito Skinner.
"This ensemble comedy explores the experiences we all have in figuring ourselves out – the various personalities we try out along the way, and the journey to find the people who accept us just as we are," the official synopsis reads. Skinner will play Benny, a collegiate football player in Idaho struggling to accept his sexuality, so he overcompensates to fit in.
“AH!!!!!!!!!! Been waiting to share this for the past 2 years," Skinner celebrated on Instagram. "I am so proud of this project and can’t believe all the incredible people I get to make it with. It’s hard to describe what a dream this is but I just want to say thank you for supporting me!!! I LOVE YOU and I know you are going to love this show it’s my baby and my favorite thing I’ve ever written."
The comedian has gone viral over and over again for his hilarious videos on TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. He's previously appeared in Peacock's new Queer As Folk reboot, Search Party, and Ziwe.
Pop star Charli XCX is also signed onto the project as an executive producer and will oversee the show's music. The show is still in production stages so we likely won't get it until next summer/fall, and it looks like it will be available to stream on Amazon Prime.
