Could a new Avatar series be on the way?
Avatar News, an unverified but usually accurate source for the interworkings of all things in the Avatar universe, believes so. "An original animated streaming series set in the future after The Legend of Korra, following the next earth Avatar in the cycle, is coming to Paramount+ in 2025," the site reports.
The news has gone viral across social media.
The franchise is a massively popular animated series from Nickelodeon that follows the mystic quest of the Avatar in a war-torn world. When an Avatar dies, they reincarnate into a new body, which opens the door for many storytelling possibilities.
Avatar Studios was formed in 2021 to work on the "many stories and time periods in Aang's world." Creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino added (via EW), "And with this new Avatar Studios venture we have an unparalleled opportunity to develop our franchise and its storytelling on a vast scale, in myriad exciting ways and mediums."
The possibilities are endless. And though they've already confirmed an untitled Avatar Aang movie, this is the first time we've heard about any new series. Avatar Studios has yet to confirm the news. As CBR acknowledges, "Avatar News has proven to be a reliable source of information for all things Avatar, though while the outlet's track record is quite solid, certain details don't always pan out as originally reported."
Fans are celebrating regardless.
Is Avatar Japanese or Chinese?
Neither. The series was co-created and produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California. Its animation was mostly done by South Korean studios JM Animation, DR Movie, and MOI Animation.
Where can I watch Avatar: The Last Airbender 2022?
