The future is female.

What if every teenage girl suddenly developed a supernatural power? How would that change the world when the power — both literal and metaphorical — changes hands? These are the questions Prime Video’s new series The Power, based on the best-selling book by Naomi Alderman, is poised to ask.

The series stars out actor Auli’i Cravalho as Jos Cleary-Lopez, one of the teen girls who suddenly has the ability to change the world in her hands, and the forever gay fave Toni Colette as her mother, Mayor Margot Cleary-Lopez. Starring alongside them are John Leguizamo as Rob Lopez, Toheeb Jimoh as Tunde Ojo, Josh Charles as Daniel Dandon, Eddie Marsan as Bernie Monke, Ria Zmitrowicz as Roxy Monke, Zrinka Cvitešić as Tatiana Moskalev, Halle Bush as Allie Montgomery, and more.

Amazon dropped the trailer today and we’re already obsessed. According to the official synopsis, The Power is “our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people at will. The series features a cast of remarkable characters from London to Seattle, Nigeria to Eastern Europe, as the Power evolves from a tingle in teenagers’ collarbones to a complete reversal of the power balance of the world.”

The first three episodes of The Power will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Friday, March 31, with new episodes available each Friday, leading up to the season finale on May 12. Watch the trailer below.
