Fresh off the heels of her new role in HBO Max'sThe White Lotus, Aubrey Plaza has been cast in Disney+'s new WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
The original series followed the seemingly idyllic lives of Marvel heroes Wanda and Vision until the facade all came crashing down. After becoming a runaway hit show last year, WandaVision earned 23 Emmy nominations and a Grammy nom for Kathryn Hahn, who was so enchanting that she snatched the spotlight from Elizabeth Olsen. Now, she's landed her own series.
Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness and, according to Variety, Emma Caulfield Ford will also return as Dottie. Plaza is the newest cast member to be announced, though it's unclear what her role will look like. Details around the show have been scarce, and the actors remain tight-lipped in typical Marvel fashion. In real life, Plaza radiates witchy energy so we imagine she'll fit right in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We can't wait to see how this turns out!
Joe Locke, the breakout star of Netflix's gay teen rom-com series Heartstopper, has also been cast on Agatha: Coven of Chaos. For now, fans believe that he "will play a teen version of Billy Maximoff, known as Billy Kaplan in the comics," Out reports. "Billy is one of Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s twin sons, and he’s also better known as the gay superhero Wiccan." However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
This is also a reunion of sorts for Plaza and Hahn, who both starred in the beloved NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. If the cast is any indication, Coven of Chaos is shaping up to be a hit. We'll be keeping our ears to the ground in preparation!
