The Sex and the City gang isn't going anywhere anytime soon—And Just Like That.. just got an early renewal for season three.
Season two is slated to wrap up in just a couple days, but the folks at Max were eager to let fans know this wouldn’t be goodbye.
“We are delighted to share that since the launch of Season 2, And Just Like That… ranks as the No. 1 Max Original overall and is the most-watched returning Max Original to date,” said Max’s Head of Content, Sarah Aubrey. “We cannot wait for audiences to see where Season 3 will take our favorite New Yorkers.”
With the streaming platform quickly gaining a reputation for canceling shows (or is that just all the LGBTQ+ ones?) and yanking content from its platform following the much-maligned Warner Bros. Discovery merger last year, it’s hard to know whether And Just Like That… claiming a top spot is impressive or more of a default setting.
Either way, fans of the series have something to look forward to, as Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) finishes up the season reconnecting with Aidan (John Corbett), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) continue on their own journeys.
Kim Cattrall will also make an appearance in this season’s final episode, marking her first return to the world of Sex and the City since the second film. However, it’s expected to be a one-off rather than a sign that Samantha will be reclaiming her place among the former foursome.
There’s no word yet as to when season three might return, as Hollywood writers and actors are still on strike until the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers offers them a fair contract that accounts for how the business model has changed with the rise of streaming.
