The winter months might not be the most popular for getting married, but when you're living your life around soccer season, you work with what you've got.
Every year, engaged soccer stars use the off-season as an opportunity to tie the knot and celebrate their happily ever after with friends and family, with fans often getting a peek behind the curtain in the process. This year, that included multiple sapphic weddings, which are serving as a beacon of light in these dark months.
Let's take a look at the couples who happily said "I do!"
Tierna Davidson & Alison Jahansouz
U.S. women's national player Tierna Davidson announced her marriage to Alison Jahansouz via Instagram on December 31, writing, "Running into 2025 with my wife."
The two have been dating since 2017, when they were teammates playing for the Stanford Cardinals. They announced their engagement in March 2023 with a series of adorable photos taken during an outdoor proposal in Chicago.
Emily van Egmond & Kat Thompson
Matildas star Emily van Egmond celebrated her marriage to photographer Kat Thompson at the end of December. The two first met online in 2022, and were engaged by the following year.
"Forever yes," van Egmond captioned the Instagram post sharing news of their engagement.
Meanwhile, Thompson posted a video of her and the soccer star walking into their wedding venue, writing, "POV: You grow up to marry the love of your life."
Chloe Logarzo & McKenzie Berryhill
Wedding bells rang for Matildas star Chloe Logarzo and retired American soccer player McKenzie Berryhill back in November 2024.
"Simply the best week of our lives!" Logarzo captioned a series of photographs commemorating their Thailand nuptials. Another one cheekily boasted that they "Thai-d the knot."
Logarzon and Berryhill are another teammates-to-lovers story, initially meeting while both played for the Washington Spirit in 2019. They got engaged while visiting Mykonos during the summer of 2021.
