Very sad and horrifying news released tonight as we find that Grant Wahl, a soccer journalist reportedly died during the Argentina game today. Wahl had received threats after trying to enter a stadium in Qatar with a pride rainbow on his t shirt.

“NPR can confirm the death of longtime soccer sportswriter Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl). He died today in Doha, Qatar while covering the Argentina-Netherlands World Cup quarterfinal. Story to come.”— Russell Lewis (@Russell Lewis) 1670638424
They just don't care. Qatari World Cup organizers don't even hide their apathy over migrant worker deaths, including the most recent one.

“My husband and I have been on the phone with the state department, and Grant's wife has been in contact with people in the Biden administration. We have faith in our country. We're asking for help to ensure Americans are with his body. We do NOT hate Islam or”— Eric Wahl (@Eric Wahl) 1670634625

“Really don’t think social media is the place to process everything, but spent a lot of time over the years in multiple countries shoulder to shoulder with Grant in mixed zones and press boxes. It’s going to be absolutely fucking unimaginable to not see him there next time.”— Meg Linehan (@Meg Linehan) 1670640521
“Grant Wahl wrote this five days ago but he was at a match when he was stricken and couldn’t be revived.

I remain highly suspicious until this family confirms otherwise.

https://t.co/LbaZG0TLLH”— Yashar Ali 🐘 یاشار (@Yashar Ali 🐘 یاشار) 1670641620
