It may look fun, but working in the sex industry is no easy task.
Models in gay porn have to film around the clock, constantly prep their bodies for long hours and multiple scenes, and are always grinding to make a name for themselves in a very saturated market.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, sex workers reached an all-time high due to people losing their jobs and needing to find new ways to keep the lights on.
Some of the most recognizable adult entertainers recently attended Austin Wolf's Collab Week in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and opened up on their personal journeys in the porn industry.
Scroll through to hear from your favorite stars as to why they joined the business... and if they'll stick around much longer!
Paul Cassidy ended up in the adult film industry by accident.
He originally thought a normal modeling company was just trying to approach him, but he didn't realize that he was actually being recruited by a top porn studio.
"I was 18 years old. I was working three jobs after school and I come from a very small village. When I was 18, I went for a body competition and I got contacted by BelAmi. I went to the capital city and they started recording me. Then, he asked me to j*** o** and I got really red. After we talked, I thought, 'If I do this home for free, why wouldn't I make money?'"
The star has gone on to build a huge following and name for himself, but he actually doesn't plan on staying in the industry too much longer.
"I would like to switch to something different like fitness. Soon, I want to retire. I've already been doing this for seven years, but I'm always going to create content for my fans. I've built great relationships with my fans," Cassidy says.
Jkab Ethan Dale joined OnlyFans after earning a ton of followers on social media. With over 600,000 followers on TikTok, the star decided to switch things up and jump into porn.
"I always loved sex. As I started exploring my sexuality, I started to look on TikTok. The pandemic gave us an opportunity to see outside of our circles. We have societal pressures to be a certain way, so I decided to just jump in and do it."
What began as just a dabble in adult entertainment has now turned into a full-fledged career for Dale.
"When I first started, I thought I was going to do it for just a few months and then it completely changed my life. I just celebrated three years. I don't see an end. I'll do it at least a couple more years."
Like many people who join the industry, Peachy Boy disliked the corporate grind.
In a short amount of time, the model has earned himself millions of followers and an endless amount of subscribers on his fan sites, so he's now found a career that he truly loves.
"I hated my job. I was never good at my job. I was never good at school. I didn't know what I wanted to do, but now I've found something I'm good at! A few of my pictures blew up and now I have a huge fanbase. It's the best decision I've ever made in my life."
With his popularity only on the rise, Peachy Boy is enjoying the present without any specific ideas for the future.
"I live in the moment. Looks fade, but a lot of people don't just subscribe for your looks. They want to see your life journey. That's why I mix a lot of my stuff with social media. I'm enjoying it right now and I want to keep doing it until people get bored of me or until I'm an old wrinkly peach."
Drake Von may have just turned 21 years old, but he knew from a very young age that he wanted to be a sex worker.
"I've always wanted to go into the industry, even before I was 18 and even allowed to film. When I was younger, my classmates and friends would say I'd be a pornstar or stripper. As soon as I turned 18, I began my journey of becoming a pornstar," Von tells Out.
Since he's currently living out his dreams as an adult entertainer, Von has no plans on slowing down anytime soon.
"I have enough content for months. I could see myself doing this for quite a long time. There are so many people who have been doing this for 10+ years, so who knows?"
Once Michael Boston hit 21 years old, he was ready to start making some good money.
Residing in Los Angeles, the former dancer was able to build a successful platform fairly quickly.
"I'm a wh*** who loves sex and I also love money. I was sick of my retail job. I applied to a couple of studios and one of them told me I wasn't their look, so I had an agent for a year."
Fast forward a few years, Boston has enjoyed working in the industry and is putting out plenty of content for his fans to enjoy.
"I don't have a timeline. I would like to see myself going in other directions, but as long as it's entertainment. I came to the conclusion that I need to stop pushing myself through school. I'll see where things take me and I'm trying to be a 'yes' girl."
Noah Way is a very popular trans performer in the adult entertainment game, but he also landed in porn unintentionally.
"It was by accident! I was in college and I started posting nudes on Reddit so I could get extra money for boba. We had this really great boba shop by my college. That was right before the pandemic! Then, I made a Twitter... and here I am."
Even though he's been entertaining fans for just a few years, he's ready to keep filming more exciting content.
"I want to do it for as long as I can or until it starts wearing on me... until around 30. We'll see how I'll age. I'm doing everything I can but God might not be kind to me."
Fans of Josh Moore have seen him evolve quite a bit over the years.
From studio work to homemade material, the pornstar has quite literally bent over backwards to keep up with the demand for his high-performing content.
Starting as just a twink, Moore hopes to work in the adult industry for the rest of his life.
"I'm going to do this until I'm old and gray, seriously. I went from twink to twunk. I'm going to go to daddy and then I'm going to go to grandpappy! I'm going to be in this industry until I'm dead. I have no plans to exit the industry anytime soon. Every year gets better and better."
Kaden Hylls is a true one man band as a pornstar. Before jumping into adult entertainment, the model was a video editor for MTV and he's still using his computer skills to this day by editing all of his content.
"I've been doing OnlyFans since 2019. My ex and I were on Snapchat sending naked clips and pictures to people online. I had seven people ask me if I was on OnlyFans, so we decided to start making money off of it. It started taking off, especially once we started doing collabs with other people."
Now that's he's made a lot more money as a hard-working content creator, Hylls is opening his mind to other career options outside of porn.
"After awhile and how much work it is, I'm getting to the point where I'm looking to do other things like music and video editing for other shows. I definitely want to start taking a little bit of a step back. I have hundreds of videos already."
One of porn's freshest faces is Michael Vente.
The star joined OnlyFans back in April after working in sales in the mortgage industry for seven years.
Even though Vente has now successfully moved to Miami from Michigan and his life has changed so much in a small amount of time, the star has begun planning out his retirement.
"I'm already planning my exit strategy. You can't do this forever. You're not going to be young and beautiful, unless they figure out how to reverse aging. Some people jump in thinking this will be their forever thing and that's not the case. I'm looking toward more passive income."
Hailing from France, Gael Jacob travels all around the world shooting content for all of his fans.
Starting out as just a model, the entertainer slowly made his way into porn after revealing more skin as he booked more photoshoots.
"My friend was a photographer and told me to get on OnlyFans. At first I said no because I'm so shy, but after one year, I started showing more and more and now I do porn!"
The star is 33 years old and is hoping to retire from the industry sooner rather than later.
"I want to stop ASAP because I want to do something different in my life. OnlyFans changed my life to be honest, so I don't know. If I make more money with a new business, then I'll stop."
