Tennessee news outlet The Tennessee Holler tweeted out a screenshot from someone alleging they were an extra in a Nashville film that ended up being anti-trans.
The screenshot says the person had an opportunity to play an extra in a movie being filmed at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
When they got there, however, they “learned it’s an anti-trans film being produced by Ben Shapiro andThe Daily Wire about cis-men acting like trans-women in an Olympic style basketball tournament.”
The extra further alleges that the filmmakers had audience members holding up Trans Pride posters with names like Lady Ballers. The extra, who identifies as nonbinary, immediately left when they realized what was going on, but said they “can’t believe something so vile is being made in my hometown at a venue I frequently attend shows at.”
The screenshot ended with the extra saying they’d taken off four days of work because of the good pay and cash money, but “felt so unsafe before production even started that my wife had to come and get me.”
In the comments, one user mentioned they were “astounded” that people could believe a “single screen shot” without source material or understanding of the industry. Another extra commented saying, “I’m here… it’s real… they didn’t tell us before getting on set what was going on. I should have read the damn paperwork better.”
The Tennessee Holder also responded to the comment saying they heard it from multiple sources and “we went there ourselves, in person.”
As of now, no further details besides the film being a “basketball comedy” are known.
