Following the mainstream success of their hit song "Unholy" featuring Kim Petras, Sam Smith is gearing up for the release of their new album Gloria and released a snippet of a brand new song on social media.
Titled "Six Shots", the clip shows Smith in high-heeled boots, fishnets, and a black tee shirt. "Better with the lights on," they croon. "We can play my favorite song.”
The song is definitely giving some R&B, "Dancing With A Stranger" teas, but is oozing with Smith's newfound confidence and sensuality. "Six Shots" is track eight of 13 songs on the album, which will also include "Unholy." Alongside Kim Petras, Gloria will also boast features from Jessie Reyez, Koffee, and Ed Sheeran.
"I'm feeling overwhelmed and emotional as I start to let go of Gloria and hand this work over to you. It has been magical in every way to make this piece of music and by giving this record to you, I am giving you part of my heart and soul," said Smith in a statement. "Gloria got me through some dark times and was a beacon for me in my life. I hope it can be that for you. Thank you for waiting so long."
Smith's song "Unholy" has become a surprise smash hit, going viral on TikTok and peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. It currently sits at #3 behind Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and Drake & 21 Savage's "Rich Flex."
Gloria drops on January 27, 2023.
