The one and only Rihanna is back! At least she will be this Friday with the premiere of her new song on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. As if we needed any more reasons to be hyped for it's release.
Titled "Lift Me Up", the track is the lead single off the upcoming Marvel film. Rihanna teased a couple seconds of it on Instagram. And to be honest, we are already vibing. Listen to the teaser below.
While that voice is unmistakable the teaser doesn't give too much away. It's unclear if it's a bop or a ballad, but fans are frothing at the mouth regardless. This is her first solo single since 2016 album ANTI and The Navy has been begging for new music ever since.
Well, our wishes are about to be granted!
"Life Me Up" is co-written by R&B star Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and film director Ryan Coogler. According to the press release, the track "was written as a tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy of Chadwick Boseman."
“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” said Tems in a statement. “Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premieres November 11, 2022 in theaters. The soundtrack, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By, will be available on November 4. Watch the trailer below:
