Girls, gays, and theys everywhere are celebrating Rihanna’s highly-anticipated return to music, which finally happened this week. After a lot of rumors and recent confirmation, Rihanna indeed released a brand-new song called “Lift Me Up.” The song, which is a tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman, is a part of the soundtrack to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Between Rihanna’s new song and Taylor Swift’s latest Midnights album – which is still playing on repeat! – it’s been a very busy time for LGBTQ+ fans of music. Queer artists who are dropping new songs this week include Dove Cameron’s “Bad Idea,” Lauren Jauregui’s “Always Love,” and Jaboukie’s “ROCKWHYLER.”
Along with the single “Disco Heart,” Gia Woods just dropped a new EP titled Heartbreak County, Vol. 2. Other notable releases this week include Curtis Waters’ “RIOT,” Jade LeMac’s “Meet You in Hell,” and NYA’s “Side Effects.” A lot of these songs are pretty perfect to stream during this Halloween weekend, so make sure to give them a listen if you want to get a little spooky.
Scroll through to listen to this week’s best new releases in music from LGBTQ+ artists and allies.
