She can buy herself flowers… without going on tour.
During an interview with British Vogue, Miley Cyrus talked about her latest album Endless Summer Vacation and addressed why it’s taken so long for her to go on tour again.
“It’s been a minute,” the singer acknowledged. “After the last [headline arena] show I did [in 2014], I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t. Not only ‘can’t,’ because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?”
As pointed out by the publication, the question at the end clearly suggests that Cyrus is not entertaining the idea of touring again anytime soon. She added, “Singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety.”
As a Disney Channel protégé, Cyrus has been a popular singer and actress ever since she was a little girl. The popstar had four worldwide arena tours over the years: 2007’s Best of Both Worlds Tour, 2009’s Wonder World Tour, 2011’s Gypsy Heart Tour, and 2014’s Bangerz Tour. She then embarked on limited engagement tours like the Milky Milky Milk Tour and the Attention Tour, but those had very few dates and didn’t compare to her previous outings.
It’s been nearly 10 years since the Bangerz Tour, so fans are understandably eager to see Cyrus back on the road. Nonetheless, it seems like the singer isn’t particularly excited about that idea, nor is she planning to hit the road anytime soon.
In the meantime, Cyrus has been performing live on TV while hosting New Year’s Eve telecasts and on the Disney+ original series Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions).
