It’s Barbie and it’s Kim Petras!
On Friday, April 21, Petras released her newest single, “Alone,” which happens to be a collaboration with Nicki Minaj. Petras’ new track samples the melody and beat from Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone,” released in 1999, which went on to become a massively popular electronic song in the 2000s.
Much like the original “Better Off Alone,” Petras’ “Alone” has a title that conveys that she wants to be alone. The lyrics, however, paint a completely opposite picture. The singer talks about not wanting to be left alone by her love interest.

This new song comes on the heels of Petras’ history-making success with “Unholy” alongside Sam Smith. Together, Petras and Smith topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won a Grammy award for the song.
Since the release of “Unholy,” Petras released songs like “If Jesus Was a Rockstar,” “Made You Look” (with Meghan Trainor), and “brrr.” With that said, there’s no denying that “Alone” is her biggest new song since the release of “Unholy” – featuring an artist as widely popular as Minaj.
We WILL be streaming “Alone” all weekend long!
