John Duff's Smoking Hot New Music Video Is Here For 'Straight-Baiting'
“Somebody’s Daughter” is hilarious and thought-provoking.
John Duff is turning the tables on “queer-baiting” by releasing a hilarious new song and sexy music video that is all about “straight-baiting.”
In “Somebody’s Daughter,” Duff acts as though he has a relationship and sexual activities with a woman, all while clearly looking like a gay guy throughout the video. If the point isn’t already clear enough, Duff is very much poking fun at supposedly straight artists who engage in certain forms of “queer-baiting” in their music videos.
“Honestly, every artist today is gay-baiting and LGBTQ+ media eats it up,” Duff said in a release. “Maluma took off his shirt, give it a grid post! As though every freaking gay isn’t posting shirtless pictures every day. It’s exhausting. That’s why I’m going against the grain in my new song and video – I’m straight baiting. Maybe, now, I can be fetishized too.”
He continued, “You see, when you start out gay in the industry, you’re reduced to being a niche artist or comedy act. I have been told over and over that the themes of my music aren’t ‘for everyone,’ so I wrote a super misogynistic song that now ‘everyone’ can enjoy.”
Duff starred alongside Nellie Salisbury in the video and insisted that this wasn’t his first time kissing a woman. “To paraphrase Diplo, I’m pretty sure I hook up with women all the time,” he hilariously added.
